One man died in a three-vehicle crash that occurred in Sioux City, Iowa on the afternoon of Thursday, April 3rd. Allen Lueck, 71, of Rosendale, Wisconsin, was seated in the front passenger seat of a pickup truck driven by Gary Schwantes, 69, of New Holstein, Wisconsin. The vehicle was traveling northbound on Interstate 29 two miles north of Salix, hauling a dual axle trailer, and the roads were slippery from sleet, hail, and freezing rain. Mr. Schwantes apparently lost control of the vehicle, which veered through the median and rolled onto the passenger side, blocking the southbound lanes. Two vehicles struck it, unable to stop in time. Four other people were injured, including Mr. Schwantes. Officials are investigating the accident, but say the weather was likely to blame.
