Dog Bite or Dog Mauling Case Require Special Attention to the Investigation

Posted on May 20, 2013

A video about the 4-year-old Prairie City girl being mauled by an American Straffordshire Terrier named Brutus. Those having young children and being owners of vicious dogs should look closely at this case and the criminal charges filed against the owner who was apparently supervising a child.

”Thirty-one fatal dog attacks occurred in the U.S. in 2011, the most recent year data is available, according to Pit bulls, which make up less than 5 percent of the U.S. dog population, accounted for 71 percent of the attacks, according to the web site.”

These cases are a strange breed of personal injury cases and the dog bite lawyer needs to consider what will prove the injured child and parents’ cases after the bites heal. We think it’s important to find the dog alive and to preserve what we can about it before the authorities put it to sleep. Investigation should also attempt to isolate witnesses to the attack as well as to the dog’s disposition and personality. We won’t detail how we proceed because that is part of our proprietary investigative assets.
