Council Bluffs, Iowa - Man Crushed When Jack Slips - A 31-year-old man, Lance Hannon of Council Bluffs was injured and killed while working on removing a part from the truck at the scrap yard. A ½ ton Chevy pickup on jacks slipped off and crushed him to death. Allegedly he didn't work there but was on the property without the owner's permission. Could the scrap yard owner be sued for this? Yes, but would he be liable, not likely. A trespasser is owed few duties. Warning the trespasser against their own negligent conduct isn't one of those duties.
