For good advice see a lawyer and if you have questions about this blog, the law or your case write or call me directly. Steve Lombardi, sdlombardi@aol.com and 515-222-1110. I handle all types of personal injury cases including car accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, workers' compensation cases. We help truckers all across the country who come through Iowa and end up in an accident. If we need other lawyers from other states we hire them and it costs you no more than what you would pay us; in other words, we split the fee between us. So call 515-222-1110 or email us at sdlombardi@aol.com.
Today I'm going to cover confined spaces at work because I think the safety ideas lend themselves to what could have saved the life of a 16-year-old boy working on a dry-docked boat. I've covered the subject more extensively for workers in the post, What is a confined space death in the workplace? Then later this week I'll cover confined space training and then welding in a confined space. We'll have a video or two from YouTube and then I'll try to close out the week discussing the Sioux City sewer confined space worker accident. I'm still bothered by the two boys drowning at the city pool in Pella and for the life of me can't figure out how that could have happened. But we may need to leave that for another day. So what is this all about?
The important point is for you to use safety techniques that are commonly used in other situations to make what you're doing safer. That way no one has to lose their life. Working safely is will get the job done faster and no one has to leave the job site by ambulance. It's important that everyone lives to work another day and comes back to the job site with all their fingers and toes. I've worked my entire life and planning how to do the job safely is as important to me as is getting the job done. Be mindful of safety techniques.
