West Virginia Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash

Terry Dwaine Spencer, 60, of Milton, West Virginia, died in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 380 in Linn County. The accident occurred on Friday, August 12th at around 11:15 a.m. when Spencer’s motorcycle struck a road maintenance vehicle’s attached piece of equipment. The equipment was currently being used to maneuver traffic through a construction zone. Spencer, who was wearing a helmet, died from his injuries.

What was this piece of equipment that the motorcyclist struck and why was it not clearly visible to Mr. Spencer? Seems odd to me.

“Deputies say Spencer was headed south near the 38.1-mile marker when the Harley Davidson motorcycle hit a stationary piece of state roadway equipment attached to a maintenance vehicle. The equipment was being used to divert traffic from the right lane to the left lane in that area.”
