Using a torch to melt ice caused explosion

A worker standing on the roof of a building using a blow torch to melt ice from a roof hatch of a sludge holding facility caused an explosion that lifted the roof right off the building. There was no report on employees working inside or on top of the building. Methane is a by-product of certain types of sludge. For further information see Worker Melting Ice Ignites Explosion.
