Two Iowa fires kill several including a toddler.

A 25-year old woman died in a house fire in Hampton, Iowa.
The woman and a toddler were killed on February 16, 2009, in Hampton. Mackenzie Blandau and a toddler of 22-momths, Luis Garcia died in the blaze, which destroyed a four-unit apartment in Hampton. By Iowa law certain apartment residences must have working smoke detectors. The building is owned by Mauricio Sosa.
In another house fire a woman from Davenport, Iowa was discovered. Its unclear how she died or what killed her. Her identity hadn’t yet been identified.
The Red Cross will assist those displaced by the fires. To date 18 people in Iowa have died from fires.
And in Des Moines police report a suspicious fire that left one person with extensive burns.
And in Craig the Craig Tap burned after an extension chord overheated and caused by a space heater requiring a heavy electrical load. The Ireton Fire Department responded to the blaze.
