Train Accident Injures Father and Son

On Friday, April 12, a father was driving his son to school when their vehicle was struck by a passing train at 8:00 a.m.  The accident occurred near Ogden on "G" Avenue.  The father was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center and the son was taken to Boone County Hospital; both sustained only non-life-threatening injuries.  The son told police that his dad simply did not see the train approach the intersection, and there were no lights or crossbars at the train crossing.  The Union Pacific trains that travel along that track generally travel at 60 mph, and it is assumed that was the case in this situation.
