Crash into I-80 bridge caused $80,000 in damage
An Iowa State Patrol report estimates $80,000 in damage to an Interstate 80 bridge that was hit by a piece of construction equipment last week. On Thursday, a truck pulling a flat bed trailer carrying a rubber tire excavator traveling on Northeast Hubbell Avenue/Highway 6 failed to clear the bridge. The arm of the excavator hit the westbound I-80 bridge. The vehicle was driven by James Blackmon, 63, of North Carolina. Authorities said the truck was not marked as an oversized load. Iowa DOT crews have made repairs to the bridge.

We've defended drivers and their insuers for these kinds of claims. Tough claims but not impossible to win.
