Polk County, Iowa - West Des Moines, Iowa - Today's accident news was the one involving the very police officer who was managing the accident scene. When you drink and drive you aren't thinking clearly.
The driver of the car colliding with the rear of the police car was cited for a failure to maintain control, insurance issues along with OWI. From the report there had been another accident on I-80; the patrol car was on the left shoulder of the westbound lanes of traffic, the officer directing traffic around the previous accident when the patrol car was rear-ended. This is not the way to start the day. The accident occurred at 1:44 A.M. in Polk County at mile marker 138. March 21, 2010.
