Pedestrian killed by vehicle driven by suspected drunk driver

Pedestrian Dawson Besler of Epworth was killed early on Sunday, April 6th when a vehicle driven Alex Hannan of Dubuque struck him on Highway 20 in Farley.  The accident happened at 3 A.M. as Hannan merged onto the highway.  Mr. Besler was pronounced dead at the scene.  Mr. Hannan was not injured.  He faces a simple misdemeanor charge of first offense driving while intoxicated and is now in Dubuque County Jail.  It is unclear why Mr. Besler was walking in that area at the time of the accident.
