Peace Corps volunteers and workers are also covered under federal workers’ compensation.

Persons working for the Peace Corps are also covered by FECA for injuries suffered during their employment overseas.  The same sets of forms and procedures are followed for any kind of injury which occurs as a result of Peace Corps service.

The Peace Corps maintains a post-service unit to assist volunteers returning to the United States with the transition back to civilian life.   This includes working with OWCP regarding any FECA claims that a returning volunteer may be making.  Because of the difficulties in obtaining medical records, particularly from foreign sources, an attorney’s assistance would be very helpful in making a Peace Corps based FECA / federal workers’ compensation claim.
