Motorcyclist killed by stray tire

A Pittsburgh motorcyclist died of injuries he suffered on Thursday, August 14th, when a stray tire fell off a trailer and struck him in the chest. The accident occurred in a construction zone on I-80 in Cass County, about a half-mile west of the exit to Marne, around 4:20 PM.   Andrew Joseph Engle, 39, was driving eastbound when a tire came loose of a trailer being pulled by a truck driven by Edward Scott Farmer, 40, of Cheyenne, Wyoming.  The tire bounced into the eastbound lane and struck Mr. Engle as he was driving.  He was taken to Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic and later died of his injuries.
