Mahaska County Teenager's Car Crashes Into a Tractor and Planter

Two teenagers were airlifted to hospitals after a crash with a tractor Tuesday afternoon, reported the Ottumwa Courier newspaper. A 17-year-old Knoxville boy reportedly was driving a car  on Highway 163 when his car hit the back of a tractor pulling a planter.  The driver of the tractor, Randal DeJong, 55, of Leighton, was not seriously hurt. The driver and 18-year-old Derek Levi Springer, of Bussey, were both taken by air ambulances to hospitals in Iowa City and in Des Moines.
