A student, Travis James "TJ" Good, 22 from Omaha died last Tuesday from what Iowa health officials believe was bacterial meningitis. Those friends who came into close contact with TJ may need antibiotics as a safety measure. See Jens Manuel Krogstad's article in the Des Moines Register.
Students should know the signs and symptoms of meningitis not just for their own safety but for the safety of their peers. Make good friends and don't be a loner.
