Iowa Woman Killed in Crash with Semi

Nicole Van Hamme, 28, of Davenport, was killed in a crash that occurred around 5:20 pm on Thursday, May 19th. A Swift Transportation semi had stopped for traffic and had just begun to resume travel eastbound on I-80. Van Hamme, driving her Cadillac CTS, collided into the semi near mile marker 295. The driver of the semi was not hurt in the accident. Van Hamme was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The semi-trailer was stopped on the interstate due to a large amount of traffic attempting to merge onto eastbound Interstate 80 from northbound Highway 61," police said in their statement.”
