Crossing Guard Struck by Truck Driver and Dies
An arrest was made in the hit-n-run death of a young girl, just 7

A construction worker fell 45 feet at a Des Moines construction site, and suffered multiple fractures.

A truck accident in Poweshiek County on I-80 closed the interstate. One of our clients knows the tow truck drivers that were killed on I-80 just east of Grinnell. A passing semi-truck driver went onto the break down or emergency lane and crashed into them while doing a tow. We've dealt with this on several occasions. One has to wonder if there was a distraction, like a computer or cell phone or texting involved.

A rollover accident on I-235 injured five people.

Officer Tran from the Des Moines PD was moved to a care center this week.

An Ankeny crossing guard was struck and killed by a truck that is said to have run the red light. The Des Moines Register's Sara Sleyster discussed the truck driver's previous traffic violation history; although it's not really relevant to how or why the crossing guard was struck and killed.

Passenger was killed in a car accident when the driver was said to have drove off without paying for gas. Driver was just 18-years-old, the passenger was 16.

A man apparently walking on I-80 near Council Bluffs was struck by a semi-truck and killed. Why he was on the highway isn't clear nor explained. Interesting enough a Des Moines man trying to cross Interstate 35 in an attempt to get gas for his stalled car on Friday, September 16, 2011 near Ankeny was struck and killed. A semi-truck driver apparently didn't see him. The man's friend stood on the shoulder and was uninjured.

Another ATV rollover accident has taken the life of a 9-year-old boy near New Hartford, Iowa. In our office we are looking at another one of these accidents.

In an effort to say money Governor Branstad is traveling to China. Huh? They don't have phones or Skype in China?

A teen in Waukee fell off a moving vehicle and was seriously injured. Allegedly she was sitting on the hood. And who thought this was a good idea? Original story by Nicole Paseka, Des Moines Register.

Urban miners are active again in Des Moines.
