Iowa Man Dies During a Police Chase

A Linn County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull over David Aaron Janish, 32, for a traffic violation at approximately 3:30 pm on April 11th. Janish allegedly attempted to avoid the police by traveling on various roads throughout Linn and Benton Counties. After about 15 minutes, he lost control of his Chevy Cruze and hit a tree head-on. Janish and a 36-year-old passenger were wearing seat belts. Janish died from his injuries while the other man was transported via ambulance to a local hospital. A 21-year-old female passenger was transported via helicopter to an area hospital. She had not been wearing a seat belt.
