Governor Petty Vetoes No-Texting-While-Driving Bill

Texas' Governor is thinking about the Iowa caucuses and even Iowa's Governor Terry Branstad is weighing in on the subject. Perry recently vetoed HB 242 which imposed a state-wide ban on texting while driving. Brooks Schuelke, an attorney in Austin carried this statement on his blog.
What almost offends me more than the veto is Perry's "reasoning" for the veto. In vetoing, he stated that the bill was an "overreach" that attempts to "micromanage the behavior of adults." He then added that a more appropriate measure may be more education of drivers.
This is pure arrogance on the part of Governor Perry.
