Food safety concerns are mounting, with more evidence of dangers, and more conflicting sources of information about what those dangers may be. Janeal Yancey of Arkansas has created a blog on PorkNetwork.com entitled "Mom at the Meat Counter" to try to help wade through the mountains of conflicting information on meat safety for families. Janeal says that there is a disconnect between farm and table, with most consumers lacking the understanding of how meat is produced. She participates in a group called "Moms on the Farm" that takes non-agricultural women to farms to show them how the process works. Janeal advocates for increasing the flow of information regarding how food is grown, where it is harvested, and how it arrives at home for meals. Another website for similar fact-finding information is "findourcommonground.com."
