ISP Investigates Fatal Crash in Woodbury County
Woodbury County, IOWA --- The Iowa State Patrol is investigating a fatality crash in Woodbury County that happened on Monday, May 21, 2012 on county road K45 just north of Sloan, Iowa.
At approximately 2:19 PM, an International straight truck driven by 23 year old Boe Jenkins of Sloan was northbound on county road K45 when a Chevy pickup crossed the center line and collided head-on with the straight truck. Jenkins had minor injuries and was treated at Mercy Hospital in Sioux City. The driver of the pickup received fatal injuries. At this time, the driver’s name is being withheld until positive identification can be made through the autopsy.
A third vehicle driven by 22 year old Chad Carlson of Sloan swerved in an attempt to avoid the collision. Carlson’s vehicle came to rest in a field on the east side of the road. He was uninjured.
The crash is being investigated by the Iowa State Patrol District 4 Office and the Woodbury County Sheriff’s office.
