News from KIMT TV Channel 3 from Kossuth County, Iowa – Two people, can’t be sure if they were workers, fell 35 feet from a ladder at a site where grain elevators were apparently being constructed. The news blurb is pretty brief and doesn’t contain a lot of facts but here it is - Link. The report is from December 3, 2011. Here is the Globe Gazette’s story. They name the construction site as Gold Eagle Cooperative in Titonka. The reporter, Peggy Senzarino, describes the grain elevator as a three million bushel facility being built by Buresh Building Systems from Hampton. WCR Courier coverage is more of the same with the exception of what a company spokesman stated, the victims were not Gold Eagle employees. KCRG TV adds one more fact after talking to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office. They reported the man and woman may have fallen from scaffolding or a ladder on which they were standing. So at this point there is nothing clear about the facts or the cause of the fall, but it seems clear they were up three stories without fall arrest protection. IOSH or OSHA will more than likely investigate the accident. KIMT.
