While trying to repair a power outage at the 50th Street and Aurora Avenue power substation in Des Moines, a worker was killed and another suffered injury. The cause is under investigation.

Electrocution of MidAmerican Energy worker results in work-related death

Details of why and who were  involved is not yet being released. But when 7,000 customers lost power two MidAmerican Energy workers who attempted to fix the problem at the substation at 50th and Aurora Avenue in Des Moines were involved in an accident that took one life and injured the other.
