Davenport man died in car crash

Posted on Oct 07, 2014

A Davenport man died in a car crash while fleeing from police in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 28th.  Scott Trimble, 26, was driving eastbound on I-80 around 2:30 AM when he lost control of the vehicle at mile marker 155, near the Colfax/Mingo exit.  The vehicle apparently “vaulted through” the median and collided with a westbound semi.  Mr. Trimble died at the scene and his passenger, Steve Miller, was taken to Skiff Hospital in Newton by ambulance.  The semi driver, Michael Grodoski, 52, of Lake in the Hills, IL, was not injured, according to the accident report, although at least one news network reports that he was injured and taken to a hospital in Newton.  The reason for the chase in unclear.
