Con-Law Lite is the new and improved cigarette company constitution

Posted on Jun 24, 2008

Here we go again. First it's that wearing or not wearing a motorcycle helmet is a constitutional right. Now we get to hear the smokers bellowing about their constitutional right to smoke in a public place. Law school constitutional law classes with Mimi Winslow taught me a few things about constitutional law but mostly that "con law" as it's referred to is about basic human rights. And smoking isn't one of them. But the tobacco industry would have you believe it is or at least they would like you to believe it's a basic human right. And so would those people who addicted to smoking and being insensitive to other people have joined in to champion the new and improved Con-Law-Lite-Constitution!

For those shouting out about constitutional rights I'd refer you to Drake University Law School's Summer Institute in Constitutional Law. Before you go shouting publicly about how a vice is a basic human right I'd suggest you actually read the constitution and a horn book about the constitution.
