An Ames woman was killed by a train in the City of Ames near 13th and Ontario Streets. Incredibly the locomotive engineers must not have known they struck her. There is no indication if she was in or out of a car; although it appears to me the report is saying she was walking. She'd been out with a group of friends, got separated and was later discovered by police. Also reported by KCCI-8 and this report includes video footage. The incident is described as being near Veenker Memorial Golf Course. The body was discovered around 5:30 a.m. Now what I wonder about is whether she was struck by the train or was it made to appear she was struck by a train to cover-up another crime?
Lately Ames has had too many unexplained deaths. This may be another one. It's difficult to buy this theory of this 19-year-old climbing up the track hill when she could simply walk on the road and under the tracks. Why would she climb up and over the tracks and not hear a train coming? She'd been drinking, but how much? The autopsy results aren't completed or haven't yet been released. That might tell us something, but will it lead us to a conclusion about why? Follow the link and you'll see what a pretty young lady she is.
This isn't the only train crash in Iowa. Another crash occurred in northwestern Iowa between a semi and a train near Meriden in Cherokee County. Map shown by the AP.
And an Iowa woman died in a Chicago train crash. Katie Lunn, 26-year-old dance instructor at the School of Performing Arts in Naperville.
