The answer to this question depends on whether or not you have rental coverage on your own insurance. If you do have coverage, then file with your own car insurance company. If not you'll probably need a credit card to qualify under the rental company rules and a copy of your auto insurance card to prove you have insurance. If you have no credit card or auto insurance in effect then you may not be able to rent a car and will have to figure out some other way to get a car while yours is being fixed.
