What can I do if my attorney won't help me get my settlement? I have asked my lawyer to settle my case 6 months ago. I called my lawyer and all he says is he's going to get me more money. I don't want more money. I want my settlement. Now, yesterday I had another heart attack. I called him and he won't call me. Please what can I do? I am going to die and all this so he can get more money. He doesn't care at all what happens to me.

Understand that the practice of law is not easy and just because we want our case settled doesn't mean that it's possible to get it settled. You may need the money but that doesn't mean the system is ready to allow your case to settle. Patience is a virtue. You say death is imminent and if the other side knows this the case will never settle. If there is an offer on the table you can always demand he take the money offered, but just know that may not put money into your pocket because first he will subtract attorney fees and litigation costs which if a low-ball offer to settle would be consumed leaving nothing for you. I suspect your lawyer knows best, but frankly you are entitled to shoot yourself in the foot if you so choose. Drop a letter off at your lawyer's office explaining your situation and see if that changes his advice about your case being ready to settle.
