You didn't say in what state the owner lived, but contact the attorney general in the state where you sent him the money and request they get you a refund of the deposit.

We put down a deposit for my husband to go on a bear hunt. It's a lottery drawing to get a tag and he did not get one. We originally discussed moving the hunt to the following year but then asked for a refund of the deposit. First the owner agreed and said he would mail it out on September 1 when he mailed out some other hunters' deposits. We never got it. He wouldn't answer his phone. When he finally did, he again told us he would send it out. Never got it. He wouldn't answer his phone. When we finally got ahold of him again, he accused us of "harrassment" and "threatened" him. I sent him 1-2 messages a day and said I was going to take him to court. Anyhow, he is now refusing to refund the money because of what we said about him online (we never said anything online about him or to anyone else). Do we legally have the right to get the deposit back? There is no signed contract.

Their mother, who had power of attorney for the policy owner, "gifted" the $100,000 proceeds to one adult child, to enable them to pay cash for a home. Do the minor children have any rights or are they simply out of luck? The grandparent intended the $$ to be used for college.
