A: It’s not legal or illegal for someone to tell their insurance company to call or not call someone, but the insurance adjusters don’t take direction from the insured. First, why didn’t you get the police involved? There are so many problems with this case I’m not sure where to start. Let’s see if there is some advice I can give you. Your boyfriend rear ended the other car and experience tells me he’s the one at fault for the accident. That means your insurance company would need to fix your car. But, since you’ve not mentioned insurance I’ll assume you have none. But your boyfriend has insurance since you’ve referenced “his insurance”. Perhaps there are too many pronouns being used, but it seems to me your boyfriend’s insurance company is the one that should be adjusting this claim. If you wish to speak with the other driver’s insurance adjuster, then call her; call twice a day, five days a week until you get a response. If you don’t after two weeks start calling the adjuster. The insurance industry is terrible at loading up way too many files on adjusters who haven’t enough time or support staff to do all they have to do in the time permitted. Good luck.
