Yes, in many instances, so long as the passenger wasn’t contributing to the driver’s drunken driving we have been able to collect the insurance limits or something close.
According to KCRG-TV-9 News site a man charged with vehicular homicide that killed his passenger has been charged with drunken driving. The story reports Shiro Remeliik driving and Gabriel Speas as the passenger. The passenger is said to have died at the scene. The Marshalltown prosecutor may be charging OWI because he intends to plea bargain away the vehicular homicide charge, then again he may not. Funeral services were said to have been held for Mr. Speas on January 5, 2012 at the First Congregational Church. He was 21. This accident was at just before 2:00 a.m. on a Marshalltown street. RadioIowa Report. According to the Mitchell Funeral Home he worked for the Times Republican and was a volunteer at the House of Compassion in Marshalltown.
