It isn't unusual for people come to me asking for a conference to discuss their case; even after they have hired another attorney. And that's okay. I don't mind taking time to talk with them. We get to know each other and being informed is very important. I appreciate that as a lawyer I have experience that they don't have. And that they have only one chance to do it right.
Some people realize very quickly that the attorney they chose may not know as much as it first appeared. He may not have the same skills or experience as the client's first believed. Or maybe their personalities clash. You don't have to like your attorney but you do have to respect their skills. If you have questions that are not being answered that is not a good situation to be in and you need to do something about it. Demand a meeting with your attorney ask questions and expect straight answers. If you're not getting them, then the contingent fee agreement allows you to terminate the relationship. And before any offer to settle is extended you should only have to pay them the litigation expenses expended and an hourly fee. Some contract don't even require the hourly fee. Read your contract and know your rights.
Above everything else remember, in the courts you have only one chance to do it right.
