Overall you are trying to preserve your integrity. So do nothing and say nothing that will alter the perception of a trustworthy integrity. It’s better to say nothing than to say something that can be taken wrong. It’s best to defer all comments and answers until you’ve review the record with an attorney.

The patient’s medical records including your reports and entries must be preserved. Under no circumstances should you destroy or alter a medical record. Doing so will open a can of worms and further accusations. So under no circumstances will you alter the records. The best method is to have the record copied and read it in the privacy of your office or at home. That way the original is preserved and has not been under your control after the investigation has begun.
