So what happened and why did the collision occur? Well, according to the report, the front car slowed for slowing traffic and the offending car ran into the rear of the front car. Why do these things happen? Well three main reasons. 1. Too little distance between the front of the one and the rear of the other car. 2. Driving too fast for the conditions. 3. Distracted driving taking one’s attention away from the changing conditions.

Conditions change without notice or a warning time that allow you ignore the warning signs and be distracted. When on the interstate highway pay attention, put down the cell phones, put away the cereal (yes, we had one of those this week) and pay attention to your driving. Slow down!
