Traffic Snarls at the LeClair I-80 Bridge to Illinois

Le Claire, Iowa - The I-80 Bridge crossing the Mississippi River into Illinois will undergo $10.3 million of repairs and will be closed to traffic starting on Monday. The closing will continue to perhaps July 2010. Here is how the Des Moines Register reporters the traffic flow, rerouting and detoured routes.

"Eastbound I-80 traffic to Illinois will be routed to Interstate Highway 280. Eastbound I-80 will be open to the last Iowa exit at Le Claire.

The single westbound lane currently open on the I-80 bridge will remain open. The ramps for westbound I-80 will be open at the Illinois Highway 84 and U.S. Highway 67 interchanges."

Comment: Civil Constructors Inc. working for the Illinois Department of Transportation will be closing the Eastbound lanes on the I-80 Mississippi River Bridge on Monday 4/5/2010 at 8:00am for repairs. This includes the closure of the US 67 on ramp to I-80 Eastbound, all other I-80 Exits in Iowa will remain open. All motorist traveling to Illinois on I-80 East must use I-280 Eastbound and I-74 Eastbound for this closure. Motorist should obey traffic control signing and devices and drive carefullly.
