Pottawattamie County - Antonio Gonzalez from Monroe was driving his 1999 Ford Ranger westbound on I-80 at the 33, 55 mile marker. When the tire tread separated he lost control rolled across the center median into the eastbound lanes of traffic on I-80. Gonzalez was taken to Jennie Edmundson ER.

Here is what to take away from this accident, the tire tread separation. You need the tires in order to prove if this is an actionable claim against the tire manufacturer. Notice how there is no reference to the make/model of the tire that separated. Normally the car and tires are destroyed and no lawyer can win a case without evidence. So take heed save the tires. Notice the word tires is plural.

Accident happened on October 27, 2016. State Trooper's description below:

UNIT 1 WAS WESTBOUND ON I80 NEAR THE 33,35 MM, UNIT 1 RIGHT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE, THE DRIVER OF UNIT 1 WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF UNIT 1 DUE TO TIRE FAILURE, UNIT 1 ROLLED INTO THE MEDIAN AND CONTINUED ROLLING INTO EASTBOUND LANES OF I80 COMING TO REST IN BOTH LANES OF TRAVEL ON THE EASTBOUND SIDE OF I80
