You have two teens from Council Bluffs killed in a car accident. The reports come in and there is mention of drinking and driving. They hit a patch of "black ice" skid out of control into a pole and are killed. The report from KCCI is fair and impartial but there is mention of them being victims. "Victims" is the wrong word to use to describe accident participants after a night of drinking. Really we should be calling them casualties; that word would put squarely in the mind of young people what they don't want to become. If what we are conducting is a war on drunk driving then casualties is what war is all about. Perhaps we should also have a body count meter to make young drivers and drinkers appreciate they too can become a casualty.
