Early in the morning of July 11, 2016, a tractor-trailer driven by 34-year old Lucas Lodermeier of Zearing, Iowa collided with the back of another tractor-trailer that had rolled and landed on its side on the shoulder of Highway 20 traveling westbound.  Mr. Lodermeier's seat belt cut on impact and he was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the tractor that rolled, 30-year old Alberto Sosa and his passenger, 27-year old Martin Feliz, were both injured and taken to the hospital by ambulance.  It is unclear who owned the tractor-trailers that each party was driving, but there is likely a worker's compensation claim involved if they were working as truck drivers at the time of the accident.  It is also unclear what caused the first tractor-trailer to lose control and roll onto its passenger side on the side of the road.  News sources report that the deceased, Mr. Lodermeier, died one day before his wife gave birth to their third child.
