Where the bike path crosses a road isn't an automatic right-of-way.

Winneshiek County, Iowa - A bicyclist crossing Conover Road near U.S. Highway 52 and Calmar was hit by a pickup truck and later died. The accident occurred late in the afternoon on August 11, 2010. The bicyclist is reported to be 70-year-old Paul Estrem from Decorah, Iowa. The pickup truck driver is a 27-year-old man from Spillville, Iowa. The pickup was westbound on Conover Road and appears from the report to have been on a bike path. As some of readers may know there was a similar death of a West Des Moines man while riding on the bike path in Dallas County on July 21, 2010. And there was the RAGBRAI rider who ran into the road grader and died.
