Premise Liability – Repairs and Maintenance - Falling Out the Window

In July it was reported a woman fell from a balcony after attempting to reenter the apartment. The screen door was stuck and when it finally broke free she fell backwards off the balcony to her death. She fell just 20 to 25 feet onto the lawn below. Tom Alex reporter.

"Shannon Faye Potts was a 2008 graduate of Grinnell High School and attended Marshalltown Community College. She worked at Applebee's Restaurant on Merle Hay Road."

You might think these types of falls from buildings are an unusual occurrence, but they happen more often than most people are aware. At least four young children have fallen from windows in Des Moines this year, one died.
