The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a notice that Wonderful Pistachios, a pistachio producer in California, voluntarily recalled its products due to contamination with salmonella bacteria. The company's products were distributed under the following brand names: Trader Joe's, Wonderful, and Paramount Farms. These were sold throughout the United States and Canada. So far eleven people have reported pistachio-related salmonella sickness, with two being hospitalized. The states where reported cases have been made include Alabama, Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Virginia, and Washington. The CDC is continuing an investigation while Wonderful Pistachios itself is working within its company to identify the source of the contamination and resolve the issue. Trader Joe's has three products that are affected, but it states it has not received any reports of illness to date. The FDA has a complete list of all product codes affected by this outbreak.
