The financial planner who plead guilty to taking $164,000 of client money should get this weeks Participation Trophy Award. She showed up and made herself a winner, not by actually working hard and planning financially, but by just taking the win with a nice shiny participation trophy. The State of Iowa came in a close second with its lottery and gambling. Gambling, and especially the lottery, makes winners out of people foolish enough to gamble away their hard earned dollars. Come one come all! Give us your hard earned dollars and let's make 1 out of a million feel like a winner! Once again, it's a good example of the Participation Trophy Syndrome in action.
Third place goes the David Lyons for spending thousands of dollars week after week after week and finally winning $1,000,000. Of course the Iowa Lottery doesn't show us the millions spent and winning nothing. What no cute video clip with jazzy music of the thousands of losers?
Here is a better slant on the lottery.
