Oskaloosa Car-Tractor Accident Leads to Two Teens with Serious Injuries

On Tuesday, June 11, 2013, two teenagers were in a vehicle on Highway 163 near Oskaloosa.  The driver, a 17-year old boy from Knoxville was driving a Toyota Camry when he struck the back end of a John Deere tractor pulling a field planter.  The driver of the tractor, 55-year old Randal DeJong of Leighton, was not injured.  The passenger of the Toyota, 18-year old Derek Levi Springer of Bussey, was injured and life-flighted to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.  The teenage driver was life-flighted to University of Iowa Hospital.  The accident is under investigation.
