Iowa Governor Terry Branstad initiated a new online renewal system, allowing Iowa residents to renew their drivers' licenses and identification cards online 24 hours a day.  There are some restrictions, including the requirement that a driver be at least 18 and younger than 70 to be able to renew online.  In addition, the online renewal is only available every other time a driver renews his or her license.  The new system, unveiled on Monday July 22, has yet to be used by the masses and to understand what flaws may exist.  The articles explaining the new system do not mention the issue of photos or whether those need to be renewed as well.  The system also provides more possibilities of fraud and misuse by Iowa residents obtaining fake or false identification cards.
