Multiple car accidents on I-35 north of Ankeny

The permanent closing and redesign of I-80 Exit 142B that allows transitions to U.S. Highway 65 northbound will close permanently on Sunday at 9:00 p.m. There will be a newly designed Exit 142. Exit 142 is on the ______ side of the state. The Iowa DOT site should be accessed for more detailed information.

And southbound I-35 north of Ankeny near Huxley was reopened due to multiple accidents on November 12, 2010. Iowa DOT spokesperson attributed the three multiple-vehicle accidents to rain and poor visibility. Obviously this person is soft soaping what the real causes are.  Most people on the Interstate that cause accidents are driving too fast and not leaving enough room between their car and the one ahead. Cars are changing lanes as if the distance between vehicles didn't matter and drivers are distracted with cell phone conversations, as if they were the only one that mattered. Weather, are you kidding me? It was just rain. I don't think so. See also KCCI's story, Crews Clear Multiple Crashes On I-35. Video available.
