Joseph Stachowski, Jr, 70, and Judy Kaye Stachowski, 66, both of Westland, Michigan, were injured on Sunday, March 20th at around 12:06 pm. The couple had been traveling westbound on I-80 between the Atlantic and Elk Horn exits when they lost control of their RV as they passed a tractor trailer. The RV hit the median, became airborne, and fell to rest in the median. The couple were transported via Medivac to CCMH with non-life-threatening injuries.
Attorney Lombardi’s Comments: Car accident cases involving injured out-of-state residents on Iowa’s highways always present special challenges for the residents who will then head home only to realize they need Iowa counsel to explain the laws of Iowa and to argue with their insurance companies. The same goes for Michigan lawyers taking on the representation. We do handle referrals both to and from Michigan. We have colleagues in Michigan we can call upon to act as co-counsel. If you need help with Iowa law call us and if you don’t we wish you all the luck in the world with your Iowa personal injury case.
Update: Here is one example of how lawfirms are working together on this type of interstate highway crash involving out-of-state residents. See Michigan Residents in Out-of-State Crashes, David Mittleman, Attorney from Lansing, Michigan.
