Load falls off of truck on highway and causes an accident

This type of accident is more common than drivers can appreciate. We’ve recently been called about an accident that happened on I-80 when a ladder fell off of a truck. That driver ran away from the accident after collisions began to happen. Getting back to the accident at hand it’s in Wisconsin on Highway 41 near Neenah. It’s described as a custom fiberglass brine tank that was headed to Iowa, falling off the rear of the pickup truck carrying the load. It weighed one-an-a-half tons. Another pickup truck hit the tank then collided with the truck hauling it; after which both trucks caught on fire. Both drivers were injured. There is video at this link. The driver hauling the load was cited for failing to properly secure the load.
