Okay, so what do we have going on here? It's a two-vehicle collision with one fatality, Ralph Boles, 85 from Grand River, Iowa. What happened to cause the accident and that led to his death? You have two vehicles approaching each other from different directions, east-west, and the one heading west crosses the center line of Highway 2 causing a head-on collision. At fault claim of negligence is more than likely driving left of center, failing to drive using due care and a failure to maintain a proper lookout.
Trooper Marc Ridout's full description states: VEHICLE ONE WAS WESTBOUND ON US HIGHWAY 2. VEHICLE TWO WAS EASTBOUND ON US HIGHWAY 2. VEHICLE ONE CROSSED THE CENTERLINE STRIKING VEHICLE TWO IN THE EASTBOUND LANE IN A HEAD-ON MANNER. VEHICLE ONE CAME TO REST ON THE ROADWAY FACING TO THE SOUTHEAST. VEHICLE TWO CAME TO REST IN THE SOUTH DITCH FACING EAST. THE DRIVER OF VEHICLE ONE WAS KILLED IN THE COLLISION. THE DRIVER OF VEHICLE TWO WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE RINGGOLD COUNTY HOSPITAL. THE COLLISION REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION.
