Motorcyclist Dies from Injuries After Collision
Michael Murrell, 52, was traveling northbound on on Indianola Avenue in Des Moines at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 12th when he struck a car driven by Sergio Ancona III, 18. Ancona claimed that he did not see the motorcycle coming when he turned into its path. He was cited for failure to yield the right of way in the incident. Murrell was transported to Methodist Hospital where he died from his injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.
Body recovered from pond in Fremont County, SEPTEMBER 28, 2016 BY RADIO IOWA CONTRIBUTOR, “A body was recovered from a pickup truck submerged in a farm pond in southwest Iowa’s Fremont County late last night.”
One Killed in Prairie City Car Crash
Geraldine Rietveld, 83, of Hutchinson, Kansas, was killed in a two-car collision that occurred at around 5:39 p.m. on Monday, September 12th. Rietveld had stopped at a stop sign and then just begun to turn onto Highway 163 when she was struck by a Chevy Tahoe driven by Emily Eintrager, 41. Eintrager was traveling westbound at the time of impact. Rietveld died from her injuries and Eintrager was transported to Mercy Medical Center with injuries.
Cause of Fatal Accident Unknown
James Robert Murphy, 69, of Sabula, was traveling north on U.S. 52 eight miles south of Bellevue when his vehicle inexplicably left the roadway and careened into an embankment, hitting multiple trees along the way. The incident occurred at around 10:49 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14th. Murphy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Floridian Dead in Motorcycle Crash,
Bruce Wesley Grove, 61, of Port Orange, Florida died in a motorcycle crash that occurred on Thursday, September 15th at around 2:20 p.m. Officers report that Grove was traveling northbound on Highway 218 in Henry County when he apparently lost control of his motorcycle in the gravel and rolled onto the median. Grove was transported to University of Iowa where he succumbed to his injuries.
1 injured in tanker truck fire at Iowa ethanol plant, Published 1:47 PM CDT Oct 08, 2016 – This one occurred in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The driver was critically injured when his truck burst into flames. The driver was loadnign the truck with ethanol. More details will be coming in the weeks to come.
Man Killed in Rural Iowa County
74-year-old Warren Beadle was killed in an accident that occurred in rural Iowa County at around 9:55 a.m. on Friday, September 16th. Beadle was cresting a hill on B Avenue when he was struck head on by Ryan Grimm, 26, of Deep River. Grimm was cited with failure to yield half of the roadway. Beadle died at the scene and Grimm was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released.
Man in Horse-Drawn Buggy Killed in Accident
John Borntreger, 57, was traveling in a horse-drawn buggy when he was struck by a car driven by Sharla Lieder, also 57. The incident occurred around 7:10 p.m. on Monday, September 19th. Borntreger was on 45th Street and Timber Avenue near Lime Springs. Police are currently investigating how Lieder came to strike Borntreger from behind.
