Iowa Car Accident Crossing Center Line with Death Resulting

Today's Iowa State Patrol fatality reports have four accident reports resulting in the death of a person. They are from Hamilton and Marshall Counties. In the one from Hamilton County a car crossed the center line meeting a Pepsi semi-truck head-on. The accident occurred on Iowa 17 and Stage Coach Road at 10:02 a.m. on May 23, 2011. The man that died is 71-year-old Lynn Flowerday from Webster City, Iowa driving a 1997 Chrysler and the trucker is Bryan Gambill, 32, from Fort Dodge driving a 2000 International. Here is Trooper Morenz' narrative:

UNIT 1 SOUTHBOUND ON HWY 17. UNIT 2 NORTHBOUND ON HWY 17. UNIT 1 CROSSED CENTER LINE AND COLLIDED HEAD ON INTO UNIT 2. UNIT 1 CROSSED BACK OVER CENTER LINE AND ENTERED WEST DITCH FOLLOWING IMPACT. UNIT 2 CROSSED CENTER LINE AND ENTERED WEST DITCH FOLLOWING IMPACT.
